1. Life may not be easy, but it could be great. Even though we may be faced with a lot of unfortunate events that we were not prepared for, we could still be happy living in an imperfect life if we shift our mind-set. Simply by knowing that life’s ups require life’s downs, we will be better-equipped to embrace life’s predicaments.

2. People who disappoint us are merely lessons. They were there to teach us something about ourselves or about life. The biggest changes often come from the biggest disappointments. That’s how we grow and evolve and make better choices in the future.

3. We can’t change our past but we can change our future. We are not defined by what we did, we are defined by what we choose to become. We are capable of changing our lives any time if we take responsibility for our lives and proactively work on changing ourselves.

4. Assumptions and judgments are the root of all negativity. Instead of jumping to conclusions or making false assumptions, we should live day by day and let time unfold the real answers we are looking for. Consuming our minds with assumptions will only lead to confusion and frustration.

5. Just because something good ends, doesn’t mean something better won’t begin. Our life is in constant motion and progression; so are we. Often good things end because they are no longer right for us, and we have to wait and be hopeful that life has better things in store for us.

6. Start each day with a thankful heart. We should be thankful for our health, our bodies, and for the gift of life in general. The most powerful way to get rid of negativity is to be thankful for the things we have that we take for granted on a daily basis.

7. Some things take time. Stay patient. Just because something isn’t happening for us right now, doesn’t mean it will never happen. Timing makes a huge difference and we have to stay patient and keep asking the universe for what we want and that it will happen when it’s supposed to.

8. Without the dark, we would never see the stars. As long as we don’t stay in the dark, good things can come out of really bad situations and we can even come out of it better and stronger people. Sometimes it takes the worst pain to bring out the best in us.

9. The people we surround ourselves with matter more than we think. If we surround ourselves with people who lift us higher and see great potential in us, we will be able to get rid of negativity faster. Don’t spend time with people who thrive on drama, they will strip away your happiness.

10. Only a positive mind can give us a positive life. Negative thoughts are like weeds, they keep growing if we don’t root them out. That’s why we have to keep thinking positively and focus on the things we can control and get rid of all the thoughts that are holding us back one by one.

Everything is a choice; everything is a practice, so set the intention to practise what will help you rather than what will hinder you. The majority of the article is worth reading, with the exception of part of point 3 where it discusses comparing yourself with others as to whether you’re doing better or worse. My take on this is don’t compare yourself with others – if you have to compare, just compare with yourself! And above all else, value yourself.1. Set realistic goals. You can always plan, but mind you! Setting a goal is actually putting a deadline to that sketch you have in mind. You need to program your brain into thinking that your aspirations are real, and that they can come true. Set yourself to believing that your goals are possible, and start living in a moment bounded to achieving your goals.2. Invest in trusting people and although this is a world full of people who take advantage, see to it that you maintain a good human relation to everyone you meet. Know your purpose, for life is about networking; It is about expanding your circle and filling the gap of every thread that comes along the way. Trusting people is like setting up a community, a place you can run to. It may sound hard to easily trust, but remember that you must surround yourself with people who inspire you. Trust those people you want to be surrounded with and grow with them.

3. Hang out with people you look up to.For those people have certainly achieved something that you haven’t. Otherwise, just sleep at home and do nothing. All I’m trying to say is that, if you want to be ahead of everyone, hang out with people who are already ahead of you. Only then will you realize that you’re behind, and with that you will have the virtue to actually catch up with them. Stop wasting your time chatting with people who are packed with negativity and bitterness in this life; start mingling with people who have a more positive and vibrant outlook.

4. Always think highly of yourself for success is about yourself in the marketplace. The world is an ever evolving industry; so make sure that you market yourself intelligently. Thinking highly of yourself can help you boost your confidence, it will send positive energy to your brain and it will light up a whole new dimension for your perspectives. You need to believe that you are a product worth buying before anyone ever believes you. You have to know your own potential before you can make anyone appreciate you. It always starts within you, therefore, go out and be proud of yourself.

5. Be frugal no matter what and I bet this is an era of being practical, none the less. Always choose something you need over your wants. Spending too much can ruin your finances forever, and you do not want that to happen. Why not start saving and investing now, and spend later when your investments are already making money for you. Saving is one thing, and investing is another. Invest your time learning these two things, and the key is to be thrifty. You need to be in control with your spending and wise with which you put your money in to. Remember, only those who know the value of money can actually appreciate being wealthy and successful. You have to know that the value of every penny accounts for your hard work; and so, choose to spend it wisely on things that will benefit you in the long run.

6. Be an inspiration help someone grow, don’t step on the weak, but rather help them up. Kindness is an essential ingredient, and it is manifested in everything you may want to achieve if you truly want to succeed. Choose to do things differently, in a way that you realize that money is not the root of all evil. Know that becoming an inspiration is your way of paying forward. Love what you do and do what you love, always be cheerful for happiness is the only thing that genuinely depicts success.

There are a few things that wise people do differently, for these people know that in order to be outstanding, they need to do something that common people never do. Growing means being mindful, it means jumping into something that can bring out the best in you. Someone who wants to grow understands that leaving the comfort zone is the only way out.

The essence of this article is that you must listen to your intuition, follow your heart and value yourself. If you don’t value yourself, neither will others. You have to be willing to face your fears, step out of your comfort zone, or as I prefer to say, step into your adventure zone and go for it. On a personal note, I took voluntary redundancy back in 1999 with no back up plan – just a knowing that I wanted to train people, though in what I had no idea! At that time, I didn’t even know about coaching! I’d be the first to admit that it’s not been easy – in fact, it’s been quite a journey getting to where I am now – often scary; however, the alternative was to stay in an environment which didn’t suit me and die a slow death!

A few months back, I was working in a job I had grown to hate. The environment there was toxic and employees were treated really badly. It made me sink into a funk, so I decided to change my situation. I knew I was the only person responsible for my own happiness, and only I had the power to change my circumstances.

After receiving a particularly degrading, gaslight-type response from my boss, my head swiveled to the right as I eyed my desk calendar. Yep, I thought, January 29th looks like a great last day.

So, I did it. I quit my job.

Granted, I took a long lunch that day and thought it through. But I knew I had to do it when I realized I felt unemotional and had plenty of valid reasons for quitting. These feelings had been building for months, and they were more than your average “woe is me, I hate my job” thoughts. My boss did ask me to stay, but I explained to her that I refuse to allow anyone to speak down, disrespect, or bully me, especially in a professional environment. Her expression was priceless.

It was New Year’s Eve the day that I gave my notice; I was ready to start 2016 with a fresh slate. New year, new me, right? Ha.

On my last day, my boss said to me, “Make sure you don’t delete me on Facebook. For some reason, everyone seems to leave and immediately deletes me I don’t understand it.”

I didn’t even know how to respond to that, so I didn’t.

Anyway, I left, and it felt amazing.

The only catch was that I did not have a backup plan in place: I had not secured another position. I gave a month’s notice and figured I was not only being generous to my then-employer, but also had time to figure things out and maybe even get another job offer.

At first, things were fine. I interviewed with a publication and was poised to move into a full time editor/writer role, which boosted my confidence. They were consistently following up with me, and I was receiving tons of positive feedback. I was sure I had it in the bag. I was pumped, and ready to take my career and my life to the next level.

Then the communication slowed, and my follow-ups went unanswered. My excitement turned to confusion, and a little annoyance. What had happened?

The company was fairly young, and they ended up going through a corporate shift, as well as a complete brand redesign. Budgets and circumstances changed, and my potential position disappeared.

Well, that didn’t quite work out as I had hoped.

At the time, it was a blow. I had thought the stars were aligning just right, and my dream was about to be realized. Then, poof it all went up in smoke.

I had prepared financially when I quit my job, but not necessarily emotionally. Being unemployed for 2 months taught me a lot about myself. I reflected a lot on what I want in life and in my career, and I learnt a lot about my job search strategy, skills, and confidence in the process. It wasn’t an easy time but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

I know many others have found themselves in the same position, so I’d like to share some of the invaluable lessons I learned along the way.

I had the time and the opportunity to define what I wanted to happen next in my life.

This, of course, is a wonderful thing, but can also be extremely daunting.

I started writing each day, just for myself. I created a general guideline of the things I knew I wanted to accomplish, what kind of job I wanted to get, and other ‘extras’ that seemed interesting to me, if time allowed. I included all aspects I considered important: salary, experience I hoped to gain, fulfillment, perks and culture. I even included how this new job would flow into and affect my personal life. I created goals in my personal life, too.

Then, I made a timeline for accomplishing each goal, with interim check-in points along the way. For me, breaking up large goals into smaller steps was not only helpful but also made it less overwhelming.

In thinking about what I really wanted, I discovered that my dreams were different than I initially thought and that’s okay!

People change their minds all the time on what they want, and career choices are no exception to this.

When I gave my notice, I was excited about that other job opportunity. I was ready to be a writer and certain that was what I wanted to do full-time. Even once I was unemployed, I told myself I would spend each day not only job hunting, but writing, as well.

I soon realized that I enjoyed writing but only on my own terms. I would still love to work at a publication, but more likely in a role where I could collaborate with others on topics, edit, and encourage other writers. I pinpointed that I wanted to learn more about digital marketing, as I already have a background in sales and marketing. I realized that I love to help others.

My game plan changed once I identified what my most important values were, and my dreams shifted as a result.

I discovered that I am a lot smarter and resourceful than I sometimes give myself credit for.

This is something we are all guilty of at one time or another.

In researching best practices, suggested interview methods and tips, I discovered that I was already doing a lot of the things that leading experts and career experts suggested. This discovery gave me a lot of confidence in myself and my abilities. Sometimes, all you need is a little common sense and life experience. Don’t let your lack of credentials or educational background deter you from seeing yourself as the smart, competent professional that you are.

I learned to use fear to my advantage, and pushed myself out of my comfort zone.

There are many things that I hope to accomplish in life, and a lot of them scare me. Now, I see this as exciting and motivational, but before, I used to worry a lot about the possibility of failure. I now know that I am not progressing if I don’t fail; failure is a necessary step in learning and growth. I know that even if I fail, I will get up and try again until I succeed.

I found power in being strong enough to walk away from a situation that wasn’t right for me, and I really respect myself more for having done so.

Nothing is more empowering than a sense of healthy self-respect. After all, if you don’t set boundaries for how others treat you, no one else will. You’re always worth it!

Disclaimer: I would never suggest haphazardly quitting your job; in this case, it was necessary for my health and well-being. Evaluate your personal and professional situation, and plan accordingly. Good luck!

This article is really worth reading as a reminder that you are a worthy being with all possibilities in front of you. The key to being able to have the life that you want is to start talking to yourself positively, in all scenarios, both good and bad. Then transformation will naturally occur. Decide to do it and do it now!

We all hit stagnant points in life. Points at which our progress halts, our motivation drags and our ability to move ourselves forward seems to be halted beyond reconcilability. Ironically, these are often the points in our lives in which the only thing holding us back is ourselves. Here are eight key ways in which we keep ourselves stuck, without realizing we’re doing so.

1.You’re choosing acceptance instead of growth.

The movement towards self-love and self-acceptance has been a phenomenal thing; we’re all learning to accept ourselves as we are and move forward with confidence and awareness.

But some of us are taking it too far. Instead of pushing ourselves to grow in new ways, we’re affirming ourselves that we don’t need to change at all. And this is a dangerous affirmation. Your life only grows, expands and moves forward if you’re able to recognize where your opportunities for personal development lie. And if you aren’t acting on those opportunities for growth, you’re choosing to remain stagnant and stuck.

2.You’re only associating with like-minded people.

The cool thing about adulthood is that you get to choose your community. You are rarely forced to socialize with people who don’t share your political, spiritual or alternate beliefs. And while this can be fantastically soothing for the ego, it is detrimental to your personal development.

By making a point to socialize with people whose views challenge yours, you’re deliberately forcing yourself to expand your thinking and consider your beliefs from new angles.

When you entrench yourself in a community of like-minded people, you’re keeping yourself comfortable and affirmed but you’re also limiting your opportunities for growth.

3.You’re weighing the risks instead of the rewards.

Too many of our decisions get made by considering the worst-case scenarios instead of the best-case scenarios. While security is certainly something to keep in mind, it shouldn’t be the main guiding principle in your life.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears. Because your hopes are going to lead you somewhere a whole lot more incredible, if you’ll let them.

4.You’re refusing to give up control.

There is a tiny, type-A control freak that lives inside of all of us even in the most laid-back of people. We want to be wholly in charge of our destinies, our decisions, our outcomes and our rewards.

And so we close ourselves off from other people. We close ourselves off from external influences. We close ourselves off from living our lives in any way other than the one we have determined is the absolute most optimal fashion.

And we forget to make room for growth. We forget to make room to open ourselves up to external influences, because that would mean giving up control. But it would also mean welcoming in some absolutely beautiful changes.

5.You’re pigeonholing yourself.

The brilliance of growing up is that we establish a sense of confidence and competency along the way. We hone in on the skills that we can profit from and do them to absolute death showing the world that we are worthy of something.

But we too often forget that we are worthy of so much more than the one or two things that we have chosen. That being the best in our field doesn’t mean we couldn’t thrive in and excel in other areas. That mastering one skill or career choice doesn’t mean our talents are limited to that field.

We forget that we are still capable of growing, expanding and developing ourselves outside of the realms that weve entrenched ourselves in. And as such, we limit our opportunities for exploration.

6.You’re pointing fingers instead of solving problems.

It’s easy to blame anyone and anything out there for the problems that we are going through. Our partner left us. Our boss is an asshole. We’re saddled with student loans. We have a family to take care of.

But if we took a brief moment to step outside of the finger-pointing charade, we’d realize that an infinite number of people find themselves in our exact same situation and handle it wildly differently.

More often than not, the problems we’re facing are exaggerated and perpetuated by our attitude toward them. And if we could turn our attention away from our limitations and focus them on the possibilities at hand, we’d find ourselves significantly less entrenched in our problems and significantly more capable of moving beyond them.

7.You’re refusing to trust your own abilities.

Its easy to listen to what everyone else wants to tell us.

What’s a little trickier is trusting our own intuition. It’s hard to turn down naysayers and choose to be the bold and optimistic, but it’s also the fastest path to personal growth.

When we trust in our own abilities to make the lives that we want happen for ourselves, incredible things start to happen. We are able to transform our own realities in ways that we never thought possible and in ways that the naysayers will never see happen for themselves.

8.You’re failing to challenge your assumptions.

You aren’t qualified for that job so you don’t apply for it. You don’t know any people at the party so you don’t go to it. You think that the person you like or the opportunity you’d kill for wouldn’t ever give you a second glance and so you write yourself off before ever trying for it in the first place.

The more you refuse to challenge your negative thinking, the more it perpetuates itself. You tell yourself you’re a loser and so you keep losing. You lose by default. You lose by omission.

But it doesn’t take much to break the cycle. Because regardless of which ways you’re keeping yourself stuck, one fact remains: You are the only person who has the power to turn it all around for yourself.

And the only question left is whether or not you’re going to choose to do so.

WOW – this article is simple yet powerful and stimulating. It urges you to believe in yourself and take action accordingly. In my opinion, self-belief is the most crucial and often the most challenging quality which we need to cultivate to be successful.

Don’t hope to be, believe yourself to be. Let me ask you, who would you be then, who could you be now, if you were committed to living in that difference, that effort, if you believed in rather than waited for yourself? It’s worth asking because to have hope for yourself and to have belief in yourself well, these are two entirely different ways to live, to show up for your life.

Hope is expectation. Belief is acceptance. Belief says you are a champion, you have what it takes. Hope says you are at a crossroads, maybe a map will drop from the sky.

Who would you be if you trusted in your capacity to prevail, to triumph through and through? Who could you be if you believed that no challenge could ever ruin you, could never not be confronted and eclipsed? What could become of you if your life wasn’t what you were constantly pinning yourself against but rather was what you found yourself forever being invited into? Yes, what if the world was on your side? How might you handle your days now, what would you allow for yourself if you were trusting in the state of all things, trusting that, in fact, the world has always and will always be on your side, bidding in your favour?

Imagine the chances you would take then. The chances you would take if conspiracy didn’t threaten your faith and future any longer, if you realized and acknowledged with both humble appreciation and absolute clarity that your world, and all the hearts and faces who’ve ever come and gone from it have, in the big picture, never been less than life’s great effort conspiring to distinguish you, to brilliantly define you in all your legacy.

Let me ask you, what if the point of everything, every little gain and every little loss of ours, what if it happens because the experience of it can help us become more substantial, more meaningful, when showing up as either a gain or a loss in someone else’s life?

I do believe we have a choice as to whether we are a person who adds to a life or subtracts from it. We can swoop in and help someone believe in themselves as they are, believe that love and friendship and significance exists and promises can be kept, or we can swoop in and tarnish things.

We can leave others hoping that eventually something good will come for them, leave them hoping for that one person who will see that they, too, deserve to be treated like someone worth holding on to.

Wherever you are on that spectrum right now, that spectrum of being a gain or a loss in other peoples’ lives, what if life has always been about getting you to this point where you understand you have a choice in how and what and who and why you are, you have a choice in whether you live off hope or live through belief, a choice in which you inspire others to live with too?

How might your life take shape then, how might you begin looking to the world if you saw it as a realm which forever openly supports you, your healing, your growth, if you lived like everything is a choice, a choice to be or not to be meaningful, to be great? Would you let love in, would you allow yourself to love openly, boldly, or at least with more ease? How could you begin to, how much aliveness do you need, how much aliveness do you want, how much aliveness does it take to become all you feel an urge to be, all you feel you are called to be, all you’ve ever hoped and all you’ve ever quietly believed you really can be, how can you begin today to live as if you already are every bit of that dream?

Listen to your heart, to your roar, feel your momentum rise within you, hold on with the greatest and deepest breath you have and hear what is being asked of you, what you are asking of you. Don’t react.

Right now just listen to what your heart is after, believe that you are alive on purpose, that you have been made to create an answer for this single calling, this single roar, this single yearning of your heart.

Don’t react. Don’t hope. Listen.

Then, choose to believe, choose to promise yourself that you will keep your quest and question alive within you, promise yourself that you will add to everyone’s life and not just take from it. Now, step out into your life, into your promise, in a new way. The world will help you but, for it to, you must believe and live like you have what it takes to help yourself too.

We’re always thanking our friends and family for their support and the incredible things they do for us but we sometimes forget that we should thank ourselves as well for the things we go through and how at certain times we make it completely on our own. Here are some of the things you should thank yourself for:

1. For trying to be a better person. Thank yourself for trying to be a better friend, or a better partner or better to your parents. Thank yourself for going out of your way to help someone. Thank yourself for going the extra mile for a friend who truly needed your support.

2. For not giving up. During your finals, during stressful work weeks and during difficult times. Thank yourself for pulling yourself together and enduring the anxiety and the pain that you had to go through. Thank yourself for making it out of the storm in one piece.

3. For taking care of yourself. Thank yourself for trying to take care of yourself first before you can take care of others. Thank yourself for the times you had to focus on yourself and did a great job. Thank yourself for understanding that you have to always work on yourself because this is the person you will truly live with forever.

4.For trying to achieve your dreams even if they didn’t happen yet. Thank yourself for trying to go to school again, for trying to ask for a raise, for trying to look for another job, for trying to move to a new country. Thank yourself for the awareness you have that you need to dream bigger and do better.

5.For letting someone you loved go. Thank yourself for letting them be, for moving on even when it was hard, for trying to forget them when you didn’t want to and for doing your best not to contact them when it was all you ever wanted. Thank yourself for protecting your own heart.

6.For the moments of weakness. Thank yourself for giving yourself permission to eat that cheeseburger or skip the gym for a few weeks. Thank yourself for telling someone how you truly felt. Thank yourself for knowing that you are not perfect but there are perfect moments where you just have to be unapologetically you.

7.For making mistakes. Thank yourself for the decisions that were not so great, it means you’re learning, it means you’re evolving and it means you’re growing wiser and stronger. Thank yourself for not allowing your mistakes to define you.

8.For your kindness. Thank yourself for doing something selflessly, for giving something without expecting anything in return, for sharing your experiences or stories with people who could benefit from it and for being kind to yourself when the world is being hard on you.

9.For embracing the chaos of life. Thank yourself for keeping a smile on your face when you’re sad, for waking up and participating in life when you feel the weight of the world crashing down on you, for going out when all you want to do is stay home and for believing that things will get better even though you’re not sure. Thank yourself for trying to live your life no matter how unpredictable and messy it can be.

10. For all the things you do that make you proud. For the little things and the big things. For the things that make you happy and the things that make you look forward to tomorrow. For the beautiful things you do that go unnoticed, for the sincere prayers you say to the ones you love, for the compromises you make, for the risky chances you take and for the silly things you do to make people smile. Thank yourself for any moment that made you grateful to be alive and made you love yourself a little bit more.

In essence, this article shows that rejection is a normal part of life and that we have two choices – one to try and avoid it by not taking any risks; the other to know that it’ll happen and choose not to focus on it when it does. It’s my belief that all rejection is, in fact, self-rejection, as we’re the one making up the story about what happened – the truth is – it’s not all about you. So when rejection happens – celebrate it – knowing that a) you must be a person who is willing to step out of your comfort zone and be rejected and b) it has nothing to do with your self-worth!

So you’ve just been rejected! Congratulations welcome to the club. Grab a nametag at the door and a drink to the right of the welcome mat. If you want to skip the name tag, that’s fine. We all more than understand the crippling sense of shame that you are currently trying to push down. It’s cool if you want to stay anonymous for a while. Your first stop in the rejection arrival hall is the Pile Of Irrational Thoughts. We all contribute a few when we get here, because carrying them around all night gets tiring. If you’re looking to draw inspiration from other Incorrect And Irrational Thoughts that we find being frequently contributed to the pile, here are a few that pop up often:

You are the only person that this has ever happened to and it happened to you because you’re not good enough. If you’d been louder or quieter or thinner or hotter or richer, this wouldn’t have happened. No one is ever going to love you again, not even your Mom.

Speaking of your Mom, she’s heard all about what just happened and she’s disappointed in you. Everything was fine and on track until you did that one highly specific thing that blew the whole she-bang. Everyone you meet is just going to know that this happened. They’re going to see you walking down the street and be like Oh something’s different. It’s REJECTION. I can smell it on him/her, and this will continue to happen for a very long time, basically until you die.

This is the only thing that has ever mattered and now that you’ve failed at it, nothing matters. All your friends and colleagues are sitting in a room together LOL-ing over the tweet you posted last week, vaguely referencing your hope that this would work out. You are not as good as other people and you are never going to be.

Everyone who has ever rejected you is currently just sitting around swirling scotch, cackling and thinking about how pathetic you are.Are you done rooting through the pile yet? Because this goes on for ages. The sheer volume of self-deprecating judgments that show up to berate us post-rejection are incredible. It’s as though every part of our mind riles against us, trying to justify what happened in the absolute worst way possible. But here’s a simpler, more realistic truth about why things happened the way they did:

Rejection happens because it just does.

It happens because your values are not aligned with someone else’s. It happens because the timing is hopelessly wrong. It happens because all the intricacies of someone else’s lives don’t always line up with the intricacies of ours and to be honest, life would be boring if they did.

If we didn’t occasionally fail miserably at what we wanted, success would become commonplace and dull. Its the trying that ends up mattering most. It’s the trying that pushes us in directions we’d have never expected.

But this is what we so often forget when we have been rejected: that we did not show up in a bad place. Sure, none of us wants to be milling around in the Rejects Hall. We want to be living it up in the Winners’ Corner, popping champagne and triumphantly updating our Facebook statuses. But the truth is, there’s a worse place you could be and that is the pathetic no-mans land of People Who Never Try For Anything.

The only thing worse than being a rejected person is being a person who’s never had to face rejection because they’ve never actually gone for something. Because they’ve played it small and safe their entire lives and now have no story to tell for themselves.

You see, as much as it hurts to be you in this exact moment, it hurts to be the other kind of person all of the time.

The pain of rejection is sharp but short-lived. The pain of playing it safe your whole life is a dull, throbbing ache that will eventually swallow you whole.

And so you see, it is good that you’ve arrived here. The Rejection Place is not somewhere that you’re going to stay long. Because people like you know better.

People like you know that when you’re feeling unwanted and let down, you have to act counter-intuitively. Instead of secluding yourself further and leaning away from your life, you have to get back up and try again. Take risks again. Put yourself out there again, even if it means chancing further rejection and disappointment.

People like you don’t let a singular rejection turn you into a timid, tired version of yourself who stays indoors and refuses to go after what he or she wants in life. Because at the end of the day, that’s the only real way to lose out. That’s the only true failure that exists.

So now that you’ve realized the reality about the position you’re in, I think it’s time you moved away from the Pile of Irrational Thoughts. There’s another pile of thoughts, in a better-lit room that I want you to check out. I call it the ‘Pile Of Things That Are Probably True,’ and it includes little reminders like this:

The rejection itself was not personal, it was the result of someone living a complex and nuanced life, which just happens to not revolve around you.

You got rejected because you tried at something, and in the long run, being the kind of person who tries at things is going to take you infinitely further than any individual opportunity ever could have.

Literally everyone you know has been rejected, at least once, in a way that really got to them.

This is also true of everyone you don’t know.

Your self worth is not contingent on this rejection. You are just as self-worthy as before, possibly even more so, because you pulled the rare and badass move of actually going for something.

In fact, if you are not getting rejected every now and then, you are definitely playing it too safe in life.

Trying for something plants a seed. Putting yourself out there plants a seed. Making your plans and intentions public makes them more likely to come to fruition, often when you expect it the absolute least.

If you hadn’t tried for the thing, you would have driven yourself mad wondering whether or not it would have worked out, which is ultimately worse than a one-time rejection.

You now have the opportunity to put this whole thing behind you and move the hell on with your life.

You’re still a sexy, charming, confident, badass motherfucker. Yes you are. This is a fact. I know because you pulled it from the Things That Are Probably True pile myself.

Alright now that you’ve sorted out your thoughts, it’s time for everyone to slap on their nametags and discover who else is in the rejection club.

Oh wow, would you look at that it’s everyone!

No, literally. .

It’s that celebrity you admire. It’s that guy you had a crush on in eighth grade. It’s the person you admire most on earth and oh hey, check this out it’s the person who did your rejecting!

It turns out nobody is immune from the odd rejection. No matter how hard you try, no matter how right you play it, no matter how qualified you are for whatever it is that you’re going for, you’re going to get turned down now and then. That’s just how things happen. That’s life.

I’d say that I hope not to see you in the rejects corner again soon. But to be honest, I’d be lying to both of us.

The most successful people end up here the most often, after all.

And I have a good feeling about someone like you.
